Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Arash B — 03 Dec 2012
One of the great 1980s paranormal thrillers - definitely one of the classics that should be in everyone's DVD collection, and something of a mini masterpiece. Great cast too in Christopher Walken, Herbert Lom, Anthony Zerbe, Tom Skerritt, Martin Sheen.
Of course, there were things I didn't like...Walken was far too magnanimous to that bitch of a girlfriend of his, who managed to marry someone else and give birth to his kid before the poor guy could wake from his coma. Couldn't she have waited a piddling 5 years? Maybe just dated this other dude? She was also indirectly responsible for his untimely departure, and was right there at the end as he took his final breath...with lover boy in tow. Cos that's what you want to see in your final moments on Earth - the sight of your one-time love-of-your-life with her new guy and their kid going, "We're going to sail off together and have a great life, but hey, we'll remember you, dude. It's been emotional." Took the shine off it just a tad for me, that did.
