Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Paul C — 06 Sep 2008
Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, this is an excellent big-screen adaptation with two stand-out performances from Christopher Walken and Martin Sheen. The story follows a car-crash victim who emerges from a 5 year coma with the gift of foresight. He at first wrestles with this new found ability, but gradually begins to accept its consequences and his destiny.
This is a taut, psychological thriller with none of Cronenberg's usual gore and special effects, instead relying on the quality of the acting from all concerned. This is among one of the very best films based on a Stephen King book.
