Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Joshua H — 21 Jan 2012
The absolute best film of it's type, The Dead Zone does what few other supernatural films can: makes you feel for the characters. I was moved by the film and loved the complexity of the main character.
The story is compelling and well-written, Christopher Walken's performance is great, and David Cronenberg's direction couldn't be better. Cronenberg toned it down for this film and it succeeded greatly.
This movie is largely overshadowed by The Shining (a good film) which is too bad because this really is the better film for multiple reasons of which I will not get into now.
