Review of The Dead Pool (1988) by Dustin G — 28 Mar 2011
Good ol' Dirty Harry. Standing up against injustice while bucking authority and playing by his own rules.
The Dirty Harry franchise is always entertaining, but not always the picture of high quality filmmaking. In fact, the series seems to have gotten cheesier and less accomplishes in every proceeding movie since Magnum Force. All the proper ingredients are there; Eastwood's iconic badass attitude, endless Dirty Harry flavored one liners, love interest, someone trying to blow Harry away every 90 seconds (and miraculously always missing him completely). But the story's silly, the bad guys are better suited to an episode of the Adam West Batman series and the action is mostly repetitive.
Still, it is Dirty Harry, always entertaining, always worth a watch, in this case though, maybe just one.
