Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) by Daniel P — 04 May 2011
Though it is unnecessarily compared to the original film, the foundation of the original themes are there. In his own way, Reeves plays the role of Klaatu with disturbing accuracy and though the implementation of a kid is always film suicide, the then-minimally experienced Jaden Smith does a fair job playing the character he needed to.
Formulaic and predictable, but definitely enjoyable as a piece of topical science fiction.
