The Day the Earth Stood Still - more like The Day the folks in the Cinema left. Whoever this dull remake can impress so much they cannot keep their eyes off the screen, needs to seriously think about getting out more!
Keanu Reeves is cast as Klaatu, the bland alien who lands on earth with intentions of destroying the human race to save the planet. Obviously innocent citizen Helen Benson (Jennifer Connelly) isn't too pleased about this future arrangement and desperately tries to persuade Klaatu to spare her civilization; the emotionless chap isn't easy to manipulate though so Helen has some work on her hands.
Scott Derrickson's remake isn't a patch on the original but it still carries a decent plot with some credible acting and special effects.
