Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Patryk C — 25 Jul 2012
A powerful movie that set up the paranoid mindset in the United States. Shocking, yet very entertaining, this very tranquil (for its own sake) science-fiction film implies a very dangerous message through its stable and suspenseful storyline.
What's more, Klaatu and his friend Gori are astoundingly admirable in all their intergalactic glory, making them genuine sci-fi characters. Klaatu acts perfectly human, and with his mysterious proclamation he is able to literally make the whole world 'stand still'.
