Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Melodie B — 19 Dec 2008
This movie was definitely ahead of its time. It's sad how things haven't changed much since the 50s as far as violence and greed goes. This movie sends an important message that should be heard by everyone.
Also, the special effects are *amazing* for 1951. Besides a couple of visible strings, they are almost perfect. I'm very hesitant to see the remake because I know it cannot live up to the original however I am curious to see how it portrays all the characters, presents the plot and most famous scenes (like the scene where the movie got its title and "Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!").
I wonder what Gort even looks like in the remake.
