The original 1951 sci-fi classic, recently redistributed in light of the 2008 remake. This is an excellent movie, which gets right to the point very early. The threat in 1951 was nuclear annihilation and this alien and his robot have come to Earth to make a point.
Humans being what they are, the point is made within about 20 seconds of his arrival.
