Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Ross M — 23 Jan 2016
A classic, unforgettable Science Fiction masterpiece!
A sci-fi made with a wonderful pace and shot with moody black and white and with an unforgettable piece of Herrman scoring magic! Way better than any composers like Danny Elfman nowadays.
The plot is deep with a fantastic anti-war and violence moral and it is always intriguing. A highly original story, with the morals not beaten into us, but they are presented so we know they are there and are importent.
Robert Wise is a great director. He made the terrifying, atmoshpheric The Haunting and this mind blowing sci-fi that will stick with you well after the film has finished.
The performances are full of effort and their is a child performance that is worth a mention because it is not too cute and he doesn't have a bowlcut!
TDTESS is a true masterpiece and one of the best written, best made, best acted sci-fi's out there.
