Review of The Day of the Triffids (1963) by Joe T — 04 Jun 2008
Would probably have never watched this film if it wasn't recommended to me. This is not the sort of thing that I would normally just pick up at a movie rental place or flip to on TV. But I watched it, and can definitely see the classic horror film elements in it.
The story is about as sci-fi as you get with killer plants and the whole world going blind at the same time. The graphics wern't good by any means, and lots of mini-stories of single characters were never mentioned or had any reference to other parts of the film.
The camera lighting and color use in the film was rather bothering as you never quite knew what you were looking at. That could have been part of the confusion and overall idea, but I wasn't a huge fan.
