Genuinely awe-inspiring. There's more glamour and genuine horror in every scene than anybody could ask for. Karen Black gives the best performance of her's that I've ever seen. People say that Nathaniel West's book was unfilmable but I thought that this was a great, mostly very faithful adaptation.
