Review of The Day of the Jackal (1973) by Jonathan B — 15 Feb 2010
While this movie is well paced and very detailed without being boring, it probably does not have enough to it (i.e. explosions, gun fights, etc) to qualify as an action movie and will probably turn off a good chunk of today's viewers.
I think the main fault of the Jackal though was the relative lack of suspense, since very little is actually built up and there is no great sense of release at any point in the film. Still, it was interesting to see the police slowly close in on the Jackal and Fred Zinnemann did a nice job directing a solid cast.
