Review of The Day After (1983) by Sean H — 19 Aug 2009
Watched this the other day. I had initially watched some of it when it was first broadcast back in1983, but wasnt't allowed to watch it all due to it's content and my age. Apart from the overly optimistic jingoisitc incidental music which pops up now and again, I thought it was very good.
The effects for a tv film were okay too. The first half of the film plays out like a bad Glen A. Larson production, but the aftermath of the bombings were just right. Good scenes included the church sermon and the end scenes in the leisure centre.
Nowhere near as brutual or terrifying as the BBC film "Threads" though!!!!!!!!!!!
