Review of The Day After (1983) by Gary S — 05 Sep 2013
This film is very bad, drivel ultimately. I think people rate it highly only out of nostalgia.
Trying to watch it as an adult, I couldn't sit through it, it was that boring and awful. Crappy writing, completely undeveloped characters, no drama, no tension. Nothing but typical American network television drivel.
I mean, for a start, there's 45 minutes of absolutely mind numbingly boring "exposition" before a single bomb is dropped to sit through. Kee-rist.
Really, really a garbage film. The BBC's THREADS was a much, much better drama which was also more realistic -- and more terrifying. See it instead of this silly, made-for-TV trash.
