Review of The Darwin Awards (2007) by Howie V — 01 Feb 2011
Love the premise of The Darwin Awards; that people do such idiotic things that they're actually improving the gene pool by facing the natural consequece of their idiocy - death. What motivates people to do such absurd things? It's like hanging out with the coyote from Road Runner. There are just enough gems in this movie to keep you interested. "Burrow" is a kwirky dude: a hematophobic doomed to be around blood, a gifted profiler, a wide array of obsessive tendencies. "Siri" (Winona Ryder) does an excellent job of playing off of all that. She's very hands on. Chemistry. This is a great date movie. Thumb up!
"I'll tell you why.... All these minor insults. They build up over the years. Finally people just lose their s--t. And you feel powerless, and faceless, and you end up strapping a JATO rocket to the back of your Chevy." - Siri.
