Review of The Darkest Hour (2011) by Rick P — 18 Apr 2012
I love Alien invasion movies. "Independence Day", "Battle L.A.", "War of the Worlds" are all three top notch movies. When done right, they are some of the best and most satisfying movies that are made.
Then you get movies like "The Darkest Hour" which gives glimpses of how bad these movies could have been. "Hour" is about 2 guys who are in Moscow on business when an Alien invasion occurs.
These aliens are invisible and use electricity to vaporize people. Interesting take on the aliens I must say, and they do look cool(until the end). But the acting sucks, the story sucks, and when I think about it, this movie didn't get much of anything right.
Should have been a Saturday night movie on the Sci-Fi channel instead because that's where it belongs. It's bad, and not it a "so bad it's good way", bad in a "god, I waste too much time in my life watching movies" type of way.
Stay away, or just watch for morbid curiosity. Just know, it sucks.
