Okay maybe everyone, else watched a different movie but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will agree the characters could have been a little bit more developed but I think the purpose was that you were supposed to identify with the feeling of being displace in a foreign country and the loss of people that you care for dearly.
They also do make a reveal of the aliens and maybe it cuts short but I think that it is either designed for a sequel or just hardcore SciFi fans who like the to see the concepts of SciFi and come up with the backstory themselves.
Overall I still enjoyed the movie.
