Review of The Darkest Hour (2011) by Sammy B — 07 Jun 2012
The Darkest Hour is a film that im a bit on the fence about. On the one hand the concept for the film, electrically charged beings from out of space destroying the planet, and a hand full of survivors are trying to stay alive, seems like a great premise for a film. On the other hand, this is something that has been done to death. They generally play out the same way, the only thing that differs is the type of alien that attacks our planet.
This film has a 28 days later meets War Of The Worlds feel to it for some reason I cant quite put my finger on? the film did have its suspenseful moments where you're yelling at the screen telling the characters not to do the thing they inevitably do. The film was enjoyable but by the end leaves you feeling a little unfulfilled, and looking for the next movie to past the time. No outstanding performances or points of interest to note, except maybe the special effects used for the aliens obliterating the humans into ash.
