Ok, If you have read the books you will know that there is no way they can put exactly what happens in the movie without dragging it down or loosing the audience. I think they did a great job in telling the story and utilized things to actually help explain things to someone who hasn't read the books to come to the same conclusion.
... Mid World is falling apart at the seems. They did a good job too in setting up the relationship with the Gunslinger and Walter (also known as Randall Flagg... oops spoiler). So not sure why RT is giving is such a hard time.
