Not sure what happened to my first review comments....but one more try. First of all, the critics have it all wrong.....this was a really good movie. It was a blend of various elements from multiple books in the series.
Let's be honest: if you read the books, trying to introduce the series by sticking to the first book would have been hard. The first book was written when King was 19, and he was all over the map in setting up the characters and plot.
It wasn't until book 2 and beyond that King started to gel the storyline. Therefore, what was created for the movie is fine....it introduces people to the Dark Tower world and a few of the main characters (yes, there are way more characters in the books).
This movie sets the stage for more movies and TV series (as planned), which should be great. Go see this movie! I went with a mixed group of people who had read the books, and had not read the books, and everyone loved it!
