Review of The Dark Knight Rises (2012) by Alison C — 06 Jan 2015
I just don't like this movie. But it isn't unwatchable. I just wish they would have done something completely different. Of all the Batman villains they could have had as the big bad, Bane is such an strange choice.
I just don't care. I don't find him particularly threatening or interesting. And I just cannot take him seriously since he sounds like Sean Connery wearing a Darth Vader helmet. I just can't.
I like Tom Hardy but geez, what a waste of potential. Yeah, lets cover up his face and have him talk super weird and barely understandable. Okay? I find Anne Hathaway just too hammy in this to take seriously.
I like Joseph Gorden-Levitt but all he was there for was to set up another movie that will never happen. And his real name being Robin? Are you kidding me? No. It's just too forced. Bruce was crippled most of the movie.
It seemed overly complicated and I wish they hadn't tried to tie back to the other two movies so much. Not that they did a bad job doing that, I just would have preferred something new. To move forward not look back.
It's just so disappointing because The Dark Knight was just so epically wonderful and the Joker was one of the best movie villains ever. It was so cool and engaging. And this just wasn't. Not for me at least.
I hate all the jump cuts. None of the action scenes really jump out at me. Just. Eh.
