Not only the best Batman movie but one of the greatest movies of all time. It's an exhilarating crime thriller with layers, the main theme according to Nolan being 'chaos'. The Joker is the perfect foe in this case and his motive to force Batman to break his own rules enforcing the fact that this is no ordinary superhero movie.
It deals with society, morality, and does this while staying true to Batman's character. Boasting terrific performances all around, especially by the late Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight is the ultimate superhero movie and a near-perfect cinematic experience.
