Powerful performances, brilliant storytelling, consistent characters, pounding action, and dark atmosphere. The Dark Knight is brilliant in every regard: a plot that gets better with repeated viewings and deeply layered performances that simply don't get old.
The writing is powerful. The verdict is in: Batman has never been better...movies as a whole don't usually reach this level.
