Review of The Darjeeling Limited (2007) by James R — 16 Nov 2010
I've seen every movie that Wes Anderson has directed and to some strangely enough this is my favorite one. I really enjoyed all of the performances. Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman and Adrien Brody all did excellent jobs as brothers on a spiritual quest. The spiritual quest itself is really just a reunion of the brothers who haven't talked in over a year after the death of their father.
This movie is just beautiful. Everything is shot in a particular way and it looks magnificent. There's a lot of fantastic cinematography that is just stunning. The locales are amazing and I had a great time watching it.
The theme of the movie is definitely letting go and moving on. The brothers all have their own quirkiness and problems, but they all could agree that they loved their father. They all have things of his that they hold on to and that they really don't need. There is a lot of really sad dark moments in the film, but by the end the brothers all realize what they have to do.
Overall, I literally love this film. Ive seen it many times and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful film.
