Review of The Darjeeling Limited (2007) by Nozaman — 18 Feb 2022
Has most all the customary Anderson charms--- but not much more. You wonder what it's all about, only to find that Anderson and his fellow writers aren't sure, either, which is why the movie ends up where it does-- quite literally going in circles.
Brody's Peter is the only one of the three brothers whom you really care about. Wilson's and Schwartzman's characters you've seen before; Schwartzman's Jack is Max Fischer who has grown to the point where cheap sex takes the place of his school shenanigans, but nothing more.
There are some nice moments and a few-- albeit too few-- Andersonian one-liners. Otherwise, the film, while nice to look at, is nearly as lost as its characters.
