Tom Hooper, after directing a wonderful biopic on the courage that King George VI had to show to the nation, The King's Speech and a lively film adapation of the musical Les Miserables, has done a good but not great loosley-based adaptation of the life of the first transgender patient, Lili Eebe.

Although this film has already gotten contraversonoy over the historical inaccuracies and the way Lili is protrayed in the plot, I do agree that Eddie Redmayne does a really good job in this role, especially after doing such a good job with Stephan Hawking last year in The Theory of Everything. Alicia Vikander, fresh of last years amazing Ex Machina is also amazing as his/her estraged wife Gerda and Ben Whishaw does a good, yet small prefromance as Lili's boyfriend.

The narrative itself is well told, despite the inaccuracies, but there are times when it get's a little too Oscar-baity, especially near the end. The cinematography and score by Alexandre Despalt are a bit underwhelming, although the 1920's production design looks great as usual with historical biopics.

Although made with the best of intentions with getting more people aware of the struggles of the trans-gender community, The Danish Girl is an ok film, but not one of the best.
