Review of The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys (2002) by Adam C — 05 Oct 2009
No, it?s not about what you might think it is. Four boys at a Catholic school (led by Kieran Culkin, a much more viable actor than his brother) terrorize their teacher, a nun with a wooden leg (Jodie Foster), and their priest (Vincent D?Onofrio) with outrageous, disrespectful and blasphemous pranks.
Meanwhile, they play out their fantasies by creating alter-ego comic book characters that become wonderful cut scenes of beautiful animation by Todd McFarlane.
The script is well-written and fun, but the teens produce better performances than the over-acting adults. Based on the late Chris Fuhrman?s novel who died of cancer at the age of 31.
