After reading the book this film feels somewhat like a spark notes version. I did get some things out of the film that I didn't get out of the book. I love how the film had moments when it was animated to portray the altar boys' imaginations.
The movie is a bit of a downer but has it's funny moments too. Overall, it is a good adaption of a coming to age novel that contains characters you can confine in.
