Review of The Damned United (2009) by Ian M — 21 Jun 2010
An iconic figure in English football brought to life by Michael Sheen in this riveting adaptation of the life of Brian Clough.
The story follows Clough's (Michael Sheen) management career, and whilst he was a talented manager - He also had a very outgoing personality and high opinion of him self, when offered the opportunity to coach Leeds United he jumps at it only to find the players don't play well under his system.
As a die hard football fan I know a lot about Leeds United and the great times they had as a club, and Clough is one of the most famous and controversial figures of the time. This film is magnificently pieced together, the script, cast, everything is done almost perfectly - the only bad reviews of this film could come from those who are indifferent on the subject matter - top notch.
