Review of The Da Vinci Code (2006) by Bradley W — 11 Jun 2012
The Da Vinci Code is a decent film of a Dan Brown bestseller, and although I have not read the book, what I can tell you is that I thought there were both good and bad points about the film. The movie is a film mainly for christians (which I am) and I could honestly say that I found some ideas in the film to be interesting, even while knowing this is all the work of author Dan Brown.
I mean the film is very slow, complex, and nothing happens for a long period of time, but in a way it teaches a lot to the viewer so I found it interesting as well as cool at times. Tom Hanks is great and was the reason I checked out the film, but his co-star Audrey Tautou wasn't very likable as well as her role which was forgettable.
The Da Vinci Code poorly sets up the characters and story, but when I look at the film in retrospect I think thay Ron Howard did a very decent job of an adaption and many other directors would of ruined a lot more than what I saw here, so overall it was a decent film but seemed like it was trying very hard to be the National Treaure of Catholic history.
