Review of The D Train (2015) by Dan A — 11 Oct 2015
'The D Train' steers into unexpected territory which will leave a strange feeling but nonetheless offers an intriguing alternative to the usual frat boy humour. The emotional depth is deeper than the usual comedy (for those who've seen it, pardon the pun) and this film most notably allows an impressive Jack Black the opportunity to demonstrate his acting range as a funny yet tragic soul in Dan Landsman, a man determined to make a nickname for himself.
He and an understated James Marsden are the main reason why this storyline ends up working. It could easily have been funnier and not everyone will be on board with 'The D Train's shock direction but the originality in its unorthodox adult approach is something which should be appreciated.
