Review of The Crying Game (1992) by Andrew U — 17 Feb 2008
An ingenious and shocking twist, that is destroyed by turning the film into a shoot-em-up at the end. The film focuses on the relationship between these two people and basically abandons that plot after the secret is revealed.
Would have been more compelling to focus on the relationship of these two characters, instead of chickening out with the end. It's as if Neil Jordan is thinking, "well, every heterosexual man in the theatre is now leaving.
..we better throw in some action to keep them in their seats.".
