Review of The Crying Game (1992) by Alexander T — 29 Dec 2008
Although there is a big hype about the "twist" in this movie (which is nothing like Sixth Sense or Usual Suspects, so don't get confused), if you put that aside it is a very decent thriller.
Character development is top-notch, so you can feel Jody's (Whitaker) precence even after he is gone out of the story for half an hour. Definitely the best part of the movie is its beginning, but emotinal depth of the rest doesn't feel short either.
Seriously, don't overthing the twist part. It is actually just a plot device that keeps your interest up, that's all (and I think it was too obvious to be a twist). It is a good movie to deserve its reputation.
