Review of The Crying Game (1992) by Nathan M — 30 Mar 2014
Or The One Where... "Say What@!?".
Even though the big reveal of this film was spoiled for me, I still found Neil Jordan's insight into the mentality of guilt and regret completely absorbing. Even 20 years after the film's release, the performances in the film are so strong that you can't help but be drawn into the world of these characters. As the plot twists and turns you think you won't be able to believe the choices the characters make, but in the context of their past experiences and the complex personalities the performers and director Neil Jordan created they make perfect sense. It's a beautiful portrait of how tragedy and regret can unite people. Even if you know the big twist in the film, it's worth your time.
