Joan Allen certainly took all the thunder from Winona's feet, for the life of me I still don't know Ryder was picked for this film, a great adaptation of Aurthur Miller's "The Chronicles of Sarah Good".
Personally I prefer the play, you get a more intimate exchange on the stage than on your face huge screen.
