Review of The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005) by David G — 10 Jun 2007
Dude, Tito Ortiz is in this movie. It's a scathing criticism of revenge porn as a genre, which is pretty ballsy when you're working on the Crow series. However, because it's a movie with an anti-vengeance angle, of course everyone's a fucking cartoon, and no death feels satisfying. I think people hate this movie because it's deliberately exactly the opposite of what they WANT it to be, but this doesn't necessarily mean it's bad...
Okay, it's kind of bad. But it also contains the most cutting smack down EVVVVER, by the Asian cowboy dude (war). And, sure, dude kills him right after, but the insult stands.
Also: Dennis Hopper! <3.
You can't root for anyone in this story. It's not a satisfying story, in that way. But it's making a good point, if you care to notice, by denying the audience the vicious pleasure of divine judgement and punishment.
But yeah. Tara Reid sucks. The other chick, the Shelly of this movie, is smokin', though.
