Review of The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005) by Paul D — 28 Nov 2009
With this movie, it appears they were trying to touch back on the feel of the original Brandon Lee film, only to end up with the film that ultimatly ruined the Crow franchise. Let's review the good points: Edward Furlong is believable as the poor tormented soul, who's trying to get vengance for the deaths of him and his girlfriend.
The special effects were alright, the scene of Jimmy and his gf getting sacrificed was alright and the early fight scenes were actually pretty good. Now, for the bad points (and, ooh, there are quite a few): The whole satan worshipers deal is just bleh.
David Boreanez is terrible in his role as Luc Crash (tell me if you've heard of a crapper name), which isn't like him, after playing a certain vampire with a soul for 8 years (3 on buffy, 5 on his own show).
He must've been desperate for work after Angel got cancelled and this was before Bones, so... Tara Reid is bad, no doubt. The whole horsemen of the apocalypse and raising of the devil storyline has been done so many times that it only takes a good take on the storyline to make it enjoyable, and this was far from enjoyable.
The final fight scene, the crow versus the devil himself. You'd expect it to be almighty, pure awesomeness, but it's just pure and utter crap. Also, that seemed a little easy to kill the devil.
Dennis Hopper did the most retarded performance since Robert Pattison in Twilight (and thats near impossible to top) and the people dancing around the wounded crow to heal it, Oh my god! What braindead moron thought that up? What braindead moron thought uo the entire movie? I would give a 15% rotten rating, but seeing as this only goes up in tens, i'll give it a 20% rotten rating, because of the reasons I mentioned earlier.
Edward Furlong, your acting talents were wasted.
