Review of The Crow (1994) by Alejandro S — 07 Oct 2012

A great dark, Gothic, suspenseful, action-packed movie! The Crow is definitely one of the best movies in the 90's and it's probably one of the most darkest. When I watch this movie I can't really think of anything that didn't work, like seriously the direction of Alex Proyas worked, the script was edgy, the visuals were great, the story was intriguing and the action was gritty.

I really hate that they made terrible sequels after this movie, but everyone still knows this Crow movie is top notch. Brandon Lee plays an amazing role as Eric Draven, he's very compelling and he fits the role perfectly.

Ernie Hudson played a good role as well, as the good cop that helps Eric. As for the villain Top Dollar, who's played by Michael Wincott, that character doesn't really work in this movie and the reason for that, is because he has no clear motivation to kill Eric, he's just crazy, so that's not very clear, but luckily Michael Wincott plays the role very well, so that is a bonus, but the character itself just didn't work in the film.

That's the only thing that bothered me in the film, was the villain, but luckily everything else in the movie was amazing. One thing I really loved was the music, every scene in this movie has great music scores and awesome heavy metal soundtracks, this movie did a spectacular job when it came to the music.

The special effects and cinematography were another brilliant thing this film had, almost every camera shot looked great in the movie and the incredible visuals were just outstanding for its time. I don't know a single person who doesn't love this movie, if you haven't seen this movie yet than your missing out because this movie is just amazing.
