Review of The Crimson Pirate (1952) by Kaj F — 16 Jun 2008
One of, if not the quintessential pirate film, The Crimson Pirate takes everything we know about pirates, the ships, the parrots, the swashbuckling and mute crewmen, and runs with it. Much like a Pirates of the Caribbean of the 50s, Crimson Pirate is more than just a reference point.
There would be no modern-day pirate movies without the success of Burt Lancaster's 3rd greatest film. Overall, a very funny, entertaining, and adventureous movie for all ages.
