Review of The Crazies (1973) by Nick M — 23 Feb 2010
I have to say, when it comes to making zombie films, Romero is God. However, I wasn't as struck with this. The story was interesting, but a bit all over the place. With a bit more development it could have been excellent. Although, I suppose that is why is it being remade.
The characters were good, they offered some unintentional funny moments that made the film easier to watch. There wasn't enough craziness for my liking, the infected were not really the centre of attention. I think shedding more light on how they behave etc. would have made the film much more interesting. I thought Col. Peckem was a curious character, it was amusing to see some of his reactions. Overall, a good addition in Romero's legacy.
