The Blu-Ray transfer looks excellent, and this is a beautifully shot film. However, the movie itself is painfully backward-focused and not without agenda (which are attributes that could fairly well summarize John Wayne's career, but The Cowboys sticks out especially as a fairy tale for the oldest generation).
