Review of The Covenant (2006) by Sheryl B — 01 Aug 2010

The Covenant is a great movie. I liked it from the first 30min of it! and after watching it again I still like it, but I can see its flaws.

"In 1692, in the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts, five families with untold power formed a covenant of silence. One family, lusting for more, was banished; its bloodline disappearing without a trace--until now. This thriller tells the story of the Sons of Ipswich, four young students at the elite Spencer Academy who are bound by their sacred ancestry. As descendants of the original families who settled in Ipswich Colony in the 1600s, the boys have all been born with special powers. When the body of a dead student is discovered after a party, secrets begin to unravel which threaten to break the covenant of silence that has protected their families for hundreds of years." - Flixster.

The Covenant is not one of tho's movies you go into thinking it's going to be Oscar material, you go into it because it's dark, thrilling, and action packed. When I first saw this film I thought their was nothing that could beat it, but after seeing it again I can see why so many didn't like it. The movie dose have its holes, where you don't really think thats how it should have happened, but that dose not make it a bad movie. I think people should just see the movie for what it is. The acting in the film was very good. Steven Strait did an excellent job, he was the perfect person for the part. Sebastian Stan also did good as the villain, but I did feel he could have done some things better.

Now there are some parts in the film that I didn't like, but over all The Cavenant is a great thriller. So if you like dark action movies then this is the film for you.
