Review of The Court Jester (1955) by Lianne L — 15 Aug 2007
Danny Kaye, Basil Rathburne, Angela Lansbury and Glynis Johns are amazing in this movie about the plight of a Robin Hood-like group in their quest to overthrow the tyrant king who killed the entire legitimate royal family save one infant, and usurped the thrown.
This movie is not only funny, it's a cultural touchstone- "Get it?", "Got it.", "Good." along with the snap to change personalities and the scene where we find out that "The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!" are all landmarks in pop culture and visible most anywhere.
