Review of The Court Jester (1955) by Danny S — 16 Nov 2010
Freaking awesome. This is like a 1950s precursor to films like The Princess Bride, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Stardust, and Men In Tights. It never takes itself seriously, and even though it is over the top, it never ventures off into stupid territory.
Sublimely ridiculous, and Danny Kaye is amazing. Love the swordfight, the knighting process, and the discussion about the poisoned goblet.
