Review of The Counterfeiters (2007) by Tara J — 17 Jan 2009
Completely lived up to my high expectations. It tackles an interesting subject: the Nazi attempt to counterfeit the dollar, flood our economy, and win WWII. The characters are all very interesting, and it is fascinating to watch their interactions with the SS in the concentration camp.
Unlike most holocaust movies I have seen, the prisoners were kept in relatively humane living conditions due to their (forced) collaborative efforts with the Nazi counterfeit operation. It's refreshing to see the subject from this point of view.
The main character, Sally is tough as nails. He and his friends fight for survival, while sabotaging the Nazi efforts enough to change the course of history.
