Review of The Corporation (2003) by Jon M — 21 Jun 2008
As Negativland-esque culture jamming pastiches go, this film's consistently amazing editing make it one of the best. Unfortunately, the film's critiques are spread too thin, and the central premise is inherently flawed: The filmmakers mechanically apply the DSM-IV ranking to corporations in a way that the DSM-IV itself condemns; more importantly, cherry-picked examples of corporate malfeasance don't prove the institution as a whole is automatically psychopathic---it's the equivalent of calling all Iowans psychopaths by finding a handful of bad ones.
Oh, and it's too fucking long.
