So the science stinks like a back alley six weeks into a garbage strike. It's so implausible it's actually laughable, unless you're a geologist or physicist in which case you're probably grinding your teeth and imaging all kinds of dire fates for the scriptwriters.

Improbable premise aside, this is essentially an Armageddon-type thriller where the plucky heroes are surrounded by extreme heat rather than extreme cold. Moderately entertaining if you can bring yourself to ignore the hokey science.
