Review of The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989) by Ted H — 05 Aug 2007
The only successful argument for sadism in art. The direction is a very rare and dreamlike beauty that turns the whole experience into something simultaneously voyeuristic and invasive. Is it too violent for you? Next time you're at the movies, ask yourself if a naked man being beaten and smeared with dog crap by a giant alcoholic Dumbledore would make the film better.
Quotable in a fierce way.
