A few friends over the years have told me to watch this. I finally watched it with with a few friends tonight. Oh my lord, it is wonderful. The plot's encapsulated in the title but the plot doesn't matter.
Every shot is perfect. Most of them look like a Vermeer painting. The lighting and set decoration changes from scene to scene to wonderful effect. The acting is, with one exception, brilliant. There are only about five sets but they're all perfect.
It's glorious. Watch it.
